"...thank you for a truly delightful morning in the woods. We all learnt such a lot and will be back..."
The intention of our Storybook Traill activity is to bring you a bit closer to some of the nature that is talked of, and illustrated, many stories told to us from childhood. As well as to explain more about some of our native species of trees, plants, fungi and animals; and to introduce you to some of our native folklore too. It's all good fun for young and old(er) alike!
We take a guided walk through the woods for about 45 minutes, find a comfy spot and then sit and "listen to the woods" for a short period: before reading a favourite childrens story for everyone. (Story choices are endless, for instance: "The Gruffalo's Child", "The Gruffalo", "Millicent & The Wind" or Thor and the Frost Giants and the ending of Winter, are just a few). The whole activity lasts about an hour and a quarter approx.
Please feel free to bring along a picnic blanket to sit on, and a snack/picnic if you wish.
